University of Canberra Master of Social Work Scholarship Program

Supporting the sustainability of the child and family sector in the ACT region.

Following the successful completion of a one-year pilot of a scholarship program for Masters of Social Work students at the University of Canberra in 2025, Canberra Mothercraft Society has renewed the program for a further two years.

Recipients of the funding have been social work students experiencing financial hardship as they undertake their intensive course sessions and mandatory social work placements. These funds have meant that students have been able to complete course requirements and remain enrolled in the social work program.

This scholarship program reflects CMS’ valuing of the role of social workers in supporting families throughout the perinatal period and as children grow. We understand the challenges facing the workforce at this time, including the challenges of students undertaking social work study programs. We appreciate that these difficulties are also compounded for young parents who are undertaking this course of study. Through this financial support, CMS hopes to contribute to the sustainability of the child and family sector in the Canberra region.
